Keep on turning. Limited edition of 18 screenprints on paper.

2021

While in Paris this summer, I went to see the lights of the fairground in the beautiful Jardin des Tuileries. In a cacophony of noises, among the wafting odours of candy floss, I walked around for a while with my friends, taking picture after picture. I wasn’t really focused on the people having fun, instead trying to capture the glow from the neons in the darkness of the park or the colourful displays of specific rides.

As soon as I came back to London, I started working on a new series of prints from these photos and Keep on turning will hopefully be the first of several. The swing and big wheel were close together, towering above the rest of the fair, turning and turning as people giggled and shrieked.

It took a total of 8 layers to recreate the image as I wanted it. And here it is: The neon lights of the ride catch the eye and draw the viewer in , the passengers on the swing dissolve in the night as they fly through the sky, and the glow of the whole fair shimmer like an artificial borealis aurora in the center of Paris.
